Simone helped watch my son who at the time was a little over 2 weeks. She would come in at night and stay over, ask me to breast pump some milk and then allow me to have a good nights sleep. I don’t think she understands the gratitude I hold in my heart for her because for the amount of times she came over and allowed me to sleep had allowed me to recharge my mommy batteries and fully be able to be there for my newborn during the day and for that I am forever grateful. “Simone supported my partner Brandy and I immensely as we welcomed our twins in the Summer of 2022. During my labour she was a constant source of steady, grounded, calm energy and was able to support me and my partner during an extremely tough labour and (for me) was invaluable during my c-section recovery. She was there on our first day at home with the babies, offering lactation cookies and warm, nourishing food. To this day, she is the only person we have trusted to stay with our twins (who are almost 6 months old!), because her gentleness, years of experience, and deep care for our little family put us at ease, as first time moms.

Aside from the professional qualifications you would want in a doula (which Simone has all of), her personable and easeful presence, knowledge of local postpartum and parenting resources, ability to validate and reassure, her critical analysis of the systems at play in the birthing world, and her genuine, compassionate, and loving spirit make Simone the kind of person that helps to have around during those vulnerable, emotion-filled and overwhelming days after birthing. “I had heard from friends about the magic of postpartum doulas but for some reason didn’t seek out this care. Then, when my second born was about six months old, I figured out I had postpartum depression. We made a plan and Simone was one of the most important parts of our plan. We had some family help, for which we are blessed, but there’s nothing like having someone skilled and experienced enter your space when you’re at your most vulnerable. Simone was like a breath of fresh air. She fed us, asked us how we were, showed us that we’d make it through this. She cared for the four of us as a unit.
